Shannon + Nathan | Chicago Microwedding + Portraits in the City
It was on.
Then it was off, then it was on but with way less people.
Then it was on with only 25 people. Then 10 people.
Then it was off, and 30 minutes later I get a call again… can we still do it just with them and me, the photographer?
Enter: the #microwedding
In the end it worked out, just as it should have, and there will be another day to celebrate with all their friends and family. Lucky for them… groom Nate is my younger brother so I just rolled with the punches. We decided that they already had their marriage license so they might as well get married, and they would be dressed up, so we might as well take photos!
These two have a boat and they love to hang out in the Playpen on the edge of Lake Michigan, and also take the boat up the Chicago River into the city. That is one of my all-time favorite ways to see the city! I knew we would have to do some photos along the river, so that was one of our first stops. I haven’t done too much photography personally in the city, so after all my ideas, our amazing limo driver suggested a few other spots as well, including the Chicago Theater marquee sign!
I’m just glad after all that that it didn’t rain on us! Following the ceremony, pictures in downtown Chicago, and a fun limo ride, we went to the Godfrey Hotel rooftop (I|O Godfrey) to a heated igloo for some amazing food! I wasn’t allowed to take photos there, but trust me — it was awesome! And literally the minute we walked into the igloo, it started raining.
They are currently enjoying their much-needed honeymoon somewhere in the Caribbean. Congrats to Nate and Shannon, my new sister-in-law!!
