Emily + Michael | Courthouse elopement in Urbana

Michael contacted me a few weeks ago saying that he and Emily were so excited to sneak away to the courthouse to get married in secret. There were 5 people in the room — Emily, Michael, the judge, a bailiff, and me! Those are the sweetest kind of weddings to me, especially in this crazy time of COVID.

Michael asked me to watch out for things askew since no one else would be present — a tie off-centered, a smudge of lipstick, an untied shoe. Luckily, none of those things happened, but I was sure to keep an eye out!

Once we were done in the courthouse (possibly the shortest wait time I’ve ever had there!), we were off to do some photos outside the beautiful building and in downtown Urbana. Emily + Michael live nearby so they actually walked to the courthouse that day! That also means that downtown Urbana is their neighborhood and is near and dear to their hearts.

We also recreated part of their first date, where Michael sat outside the bench at Crane Alley and waited for Emily to arrive. We took advantage of the cute storefronts and fall colors down this stretch of sidewalk, and I am so happy with the images we created together.

Congrats, Emily + Michael! I hope you had fun telling your families the good news!! <3
