Illinois men’s basketball photos at State Farm Center

I photograph a handful of Illinois men’s basketball games every season (and I do football too, but that’s another post!). This season has (mostly) been a fun one so far!

I’ve started challenging myself a bit more to get outside of the box and outside of my head and capture some images that are different from what I normally get. I’m looking out for images that tell the story of not just the game, but also the atmosphere, crowd, and our beloved orange and blue school colors.

My “boss” aka the guy who is the head honcho at the sports site I work for also gave me the go ahead to get more atmosphere shots that can be used anytime and can’t be tied to any specific game. So that has helped me focus a little more on the other “stuff” surrounding a college basketball game but also get great game photos.

And this may be obvious, but I will also say that it definitely helps to get good photos when the team is good and it’s a good game with exciting scoring and defensive plays.

Also in case you didn’t know, I am a U of I alum and also a former member of Orange Krush, so you could say I’m a longtime fan of this basketball program. ;) So I gotta end with — GO ILLINI!!
