Shannon + Nate | Chicago's Begyle + Montrose Harbor engagement
Well, my lovely blog readers, I totally slacked on this one! I was SURE I had already posted this one shortly after their session, but then a couple days ago I found it in my drafts folder. This one definitely deserves its own blog post, and I am so thrilled to share it here!
I’ve known Nate for 33+ years. You guessed it! He’s my brother! He lives and works in Chicago, where he met Shannon a couple years ago. They recently got engaged and are planning their wedding in the city for next November. I can’t wait! I don’t photograph too many weddings in Chicago, and with everything being very centrally located, we’re going to hit lots of favorite photo hot spots!
For their engagement session, they had lots of ideas for locations and important things to incorporate, and the biggest of those was their dog Mitch. Mitch did really good considering he was along for the entire session! We started out at Chicago’s dog-friendly bar Begyle, where Shannon + Nate had their first date.
The couple also has a boat in Montrose Harbor on Lake Michigan, so they wanted to do a few photos with the boat and then of course finish up at the Lake. This dog doesn’t like to leave their sides, so the ones of him walking in between them were totally unstaged. I actually held his leash while they both changed outfits in the boathouse, and he whined the whole time. LOL — so cute!
And oh my goodness — the lake photos are jaw-dropping! The weather was darn near perfect that day and we had a gorgeous pastel sky that complimented the water perfectly, along with their blue/white/gray color scheme. As Nate says, “Mitch has a suit that he can’t take off.” And with that Chicago skyline in the background — perfection!
So happy for guys and glad to gain another sister! Definitely can’t wait for your wedding late next year!!
