One Winter Night 2020 | C-U at Home annual fundraiser

HBP

One Winter Night is another annual event that I donate my services too, and this year it just so happened to fall on the same night as Night to Shine, so pulled double duty! NTS wraps up at 9pm every year, and then I added some layers and headed to downtown Champaign to see how the box dwellers were handling the snow. It actually wasn’t super cold and was comfortable enough walking around downtown with the gently falling snow (read: NOT blizzard, thankfully). A lot of the box dwellers were roaming around visiting or down listening to the speakers in the Orpheum Children’s Museum, which has served as the headquarters for the event the past couple of years. It was fun to see people playing in the snow and being interviewed by reporters on my walk.

At the time I published this post, the C-U at Home organization was about 90% of the way to their goal of raising $350,000 from this year’s event. They are raising extra funds now to build a permanent shelter for the homeless community in our city. You have a few more days to donate to this year’s drive!
