One of my favorite annual volunteer events happened last Friday night in Champaign — Night to Shine 2020! This is the prom put on every year by the Tim Tebow Foundation, an awesome night for people with special needs to be treated like kings and queens.

Each guest gets treated to dinner, a boutonniere/corsage, hair/makeup/nails, karaoke, shoe shining, limo rides, a photo booth, red carpet, paparazzi, professional photos in front of an official backdrop, and lots of dancing! And at the end of the night, every guest gets crowned as king or queen, there is a ballon drop, and a special video message from Tim Tebow.

This year we had more prom-goers than ever before, which means more volunteers than ever. It takes a ton of people to pull this off and it is such a fun night for all involved. Thank you to all the coordinators, volunteers, medical personnel and especially to my photo team for making this event such a huge success year after year!

As I was taking photos on the dance floor this year, I had the thought that this could be what heaven is like. People filled with joy, dancing, and celebrating, paying no attention to anyone’s differences. I can only imagine. <3
