Lindsey + Ryan | Microwedding at Big Grove Tavern in Champaign
Bride Lindsey contacted me saying she wanted to book me to photograph her courthouse wedding. My only issue was that the date she gave me was a Saturday. Hesitantly, I emailed her back, worried that I was going to break her heart with the news that the Urbana courthouse doesn’t do weddings on Saturdays. 😞 BUT, good news! She wrote me back saying she works at the courthouse and had gotten special permission and judge friend to perform their ceremony on a Saturday. Hooray!
So we met up on a blustery but sunny Saturday morning for Lindsey’s first look with Ryan, and then proceeded into the courthouse for their ceremony. Everyone then moved to Big Grove Tavern in downtown Champaign for the remainder of the festivities. Once everyone was settled inside, I took the bride and groom out for some portraits around the downtown area.
Having an intimate, microwedding, the couple opted to keep some traditions like cutting the (cheese)cake, thank yous to their guests, and lots of toasts! Nearly everyone around the table was able to share their love and congratulations with the couple, a benefit of a small wedding for sure.
The couple’s two boys were a big part of the day, and they both hammed it up in their own ways. Definitely keep an eye out for the boys in the photos below as there are some real gems! Haha!
Congrats again to Lindsey + Ryan — I wish you much happiness!!
