Kelly + Chris | Downtown Champaign wedding at The Venue CU

It feels so good to be back photographing weddings again! And I was stoked that my first official wedding of 2021 was at The Venue CU in downtown Champaign. I’ve been dreaming of shooting there since my first “hard hat” walkthrough a couple years ago with Dan & Greg. I did get to do the styled shoot there in March, but a real wedding is so much different!

Kelly + Chris’s wedding was inspired by Beauty and the Beast with rose cloche centerpieces like the movie. These two have been together for nine years, and it was easy to see that they had the best of friends standing up alongside them as they promised themselves to each other.

Can we take a minute to talk about the deep berry pink dresses? Many of you know how much I looooove color, and I was digging that pop of pink! And we can’t forget the guys — they were wearing the same shade of pink ties, AND hot pink socks to match!

The rain broke just after the ceremony, allowing us some time outside with gorgeous light. And that white blooming tree just across the street from The Venue CU was the cherry on top of a spring wedding!

A few moments that stood out to me were Kelly’s tears during her maid of honor’s toast, KK’s tears as she walked down the aisle to watch her parents marry, the heartfelt first dances, and alllll the laughter throughout the day!! <3
