Kayla | Champaign Centennial senior photo session

Kayla is a bright, fun-loving senior at Champaign Centennial High School. She is an avid reader, a competitive horse rider, and active in National Honor Society and choir.  She exhibits extra personality with various colors in her hair, and currently that color is purple!  Once I heard about her purple hair, I knew we'd have to incorporate one of my favorite walls in all of Champaign into her session, and you'll see those at the end of this post.

The day we met for her session was a bit warmer than average, but overcast and gloomy.  I wanted to have a taste of the sun for some of her photos, so I "made" my own sun with the help of my MagMod gear.  I used a full CTO gel, a grid, and the MagSphere just out of the camera frame and behind Kayla in some of the images at West Side Park, and I am super happy with the results!  I will have to keep that trick in my back pocket for those sessions that I am not able to reschedule due to weather. I also used the MagMod grid and Sphere without the gel on the very last set of images in this post.  It was getting just a tad too dark, so I used one light to make Kayla pop out a bit from the purple background.

Kayla, I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your senior year!  I look forward to working with you family more in the future!!
