Karen + Sam's wedding was one I will never forget! It was one of the hardest weddings I have photographed due to mother nature's plans. As I drove up to the ceremony site (which was tricky in itself because of construction road closures!), the sky started to look pretty ominous, so I prepared for the worst and got my flash equipment ready right away. It was a game-time decision to move the outdoor ceremony into the reception tent, and it POURED before the ceremony until about an hour after the ceremony. I am THRILLED with the ceremony photos since I used my off-camera flash skills. I love how I was able to point a light at both the bride and groom individually and get perfect light on each of their faces.

The rain left us with a wet, muddy mess, but it also brought us a fantastic double rainbow, and a GORGEOUS sunset! Karen's dress was already dirty from the ceremony, so we were able to go out on the grounds of the Prairie Glass House to get some photos with those amazing skies. My favorite parts of the day (aside from the sunset and rainbows!) were the couple posing with the Ameren truck once the power got restored (hallelujah!), exploring the Prairie Glass House in search of cool spots for the bouquets and shoes (there are a TON of neat pieces of artwork and nooks and crannies), and posing the bridal party in the house while we avoided the last of the rain. It was a challenging but fun day, and I'm proud of the images we got despite the circumstances working against us!!
