Elise | Champaign Centennial senior session at Meadowbrook Park
I’m constantly on the lookout for new and unique locations around Champaign-Urbana. And I’m also thinking of ways to showcase old locations with fresh eyes or perspectives. For your senior session, I’m always happy to come up with locations or help you think of places that fit with your lifestyle, interests, and personality. If you want to start brainstorming on your own, here are a few ideas to get you started!
Local park or botanical garden: These locations offer a variety of natural backdrops, such as colorful flowers, tall grass, trees, and serene lakes. (Elise, who is featured in this post, chose Meadowbrook Park in Urbana for her session.)
Urban downtown area: Capture the vibrant cityscape with its tall buildings, graffiti walls, colorful murals, and unique architectural features.
Artsy district: Find a trendy neighborhood known for its artistic atmosphere, street art, and bohemian charm. This location can provide a unique and eclectic backdrop. (Local example: Sipyard in downtown Urbana)
Sports field or stadium: If you're passionate about sports, consider capturing your love for the game at your school's sports field or a local stadium. (Local example: Memorial Stadium or State Farm Center)
Rural countryside/forest/wooded area: Embrace the beauty of nature by shooting in a peaceful countryside setting, complete with rolling hills, open fields, or rustic barns; find a serene forest or wooded area with lush greenery, tall trees, and natural trails for a peaceful and organic backdrop.
College or university campus: If you have plans to attend a particular college or university, consider taking your senior photos on its campus to showcase your future aspirations. (U of I has TONS of great photo spots, even if you don’t plan to attend there. We can make it look non-UI but still create beautiful photos.)
Hometown landmarks: Highlight your connection to your community by photographing at local landmarks, historical sites, or places that hold personal significance. (Local options: Trevett-Finch tree, Blind Pig alley/city building, Green St, old train station, etc)
Rooftop or high-rise building: Seek out a location with a rooftop view or a high-rise building that provides a panoramic cityscape for a unique perspective. (Local options: I have 2 FANTASTIC parking garage options… they are MAGICAL at sunset!!)
Library or bookstore: If you're a bookworm or love literature, consider a location like a beautiful library or a cozy independent bookstore for an intellectual and sophisticated look.
Botanical conservatory: Explore the wonders of a botanical conservatory, which typically offers a variety of exotic plants, vibrant flowers, and stunning architecture.
