Christy + Matthew | Wedding at Aikman Wildlife Adventure Arcola
What a beautiful day we had on for Christy + Matt’s wedding on Saturday! The day started with a flurry of activity at Christy’s parents’ house in Arthur, where bridesmaids were getting hair and makeup done by the fab stylists from Thrive Salon. Christy got the tears flowing early by giving both her parents and her future mother-in-law letters along with a small gift. It was a very emotional morning to say the least!
My second photographer for the day (Kim) met up with the guys at their AirBnb where Matt also received a letter from Christy and completed his look with some snazzy socks, his leather watch, and a little help from dad with his tie.
Christy + Matt saw each other for the first time before the ceremony to allow for wedding party photos before the ceremony, and it worked out well with lots of sunshine despite the cold weather. Then it was on to Penn Station in Arthur for the ceremony. The ceremony was a very personal and Christ-centered, and the theme of the day was definitely how both sets of parents had prayed many years for this day and for their children to find their perfect mates.
Following the sparkler sendoff, we headed on to Aikman Wildlife Adventure (too cold for the animals to come out I’m afraid!) and Reclaimed Food & Spirits, the banquet space on the grounds there. The reception was a great celebration with delicious food, cake, friends, family, and dancing!
It may have been the coldest day I ever remember photographing a wedding, but when I look back on these photos I don’t remember the cold. I remember this amazing couple and their perfect wedding day! Best wishes for many happy years of marriage to come! Congrats, Christy + Matthew!
