Audrey + Matthew | Wedding portraits at the University of Illinois
After having to cancel their wedding plans twice, Audrey + Matt opted to gather their families, and do a 2-hour glam portrait session and family photos! Their ceremony and reception were meant to have been at the Illini Union, so we stayed on campus for this session, but chose some spots with the best evening light. (And yay for getting to choose the time with this change! Hello golden hour!).
I suggested the Hallene Gateway adjacent to the Alice Campbell Alumni Center for some gorgeous evening light, and the ever-popular fountain! Their immediate families met us there, including Audrey’s awesome brother and his girlfriend who drove 3.5 hours one-way just for the family photos!
After we got all the important family groupings, we jumped right into couple portraits, and I love how everything came together so beautifully. The dusty pinks of Audrey’s bouquet complemented Matt’s navy suit, pink tie, and boutonneire.
Following the fountain area portion, we moved down the road to the Arboretum & Japan House area. We made sure to hit up one of my all-time favorite spots by the weeping willow and pond next to the Japan House. The couple loved the little nod to Matt’s Japanese grandmother too by adding in this area of campus. <3
Ahh! The light was so dreamy that night and everything was so nice and green. Even if they didn’t have the wedding day of their dreams, I’m so glad we were able to do this session and at least give them some beautiful images and a keepsake album. Congrats, Audrey + Matt!
