How do you read blogs?

Are you type that only reads a blog when a link is sent to you? Or maybe you’re the type that reads several blogs each day and you have those links saved on your browser (that used to be me!)? Have you ever considered using an rss reader? Mine makes my blog reading so much smoother, faster and easier. And I admit, that I used to have NO CLUE what people were talking about when they said RSS and readers, and I even tried it once or twice a long time ago before I finally figured out what all the fuss was about. Let me tell you, I was missing out.

Here’s a sample of what my reader looks like on any given morning:

As you can see, I prefer Google Reader, mostly because all my email addresses go through Gmail, and I also use Google Calendar 88 minutes dvd download

& Google Documents several times a week. But there are other websites out there dedicated to doing the same thing. The most popular one off the top of my head is Bloglines

Here’s a good article on what RSS means and how to set up a reader on Squidoo.

And here’s a quick rundown of instructions from me!
-First, set up your reader at Google tommy boy divx download (only because I’ve never used Bloglines).
-Now, scroll up to the top of my blog/website. You see that little black button on the right-hand side opposite my face? That’s the RSS feed button. Click on that, and it will ask you if you want to add my feed to Google Reader or your Google homepage. Click “Google Reader.”
-That’s basically it! You will now see a top 10 or so of my blog posts mentioned and you can go through and read them all or mark them as read.
-Another way to add a blog to your reader is to just copy and paste the web address of a blog and paste it in the “Add a Subscription” box at the top of Google Reader (I’m not sure this always works, however).
-UPDATE: I just added a link that will show up at the top of the page the first 5 times you visit my site. So now it’s extra handy!

If you read a ton of blogs like I do, this setup will make you so much happier, I promise!!

Are you serious?! This might be one of the most romantic photos I’ve ever taken at an engagement session. Jess & Steve were so great to work with and so cooperative and willing to do anything I asked. They even followed me on a couple wrong turns as I looked for a yellow field I had seen from the interstate. The only crappy thing now is that I have to wait until October for their wedding! Now without further ado, here are the images from Lake of the Woods in Mahomet, a yellow field along Route 150 and Cakes on Walnut.

I’ve added one more thing to the list that I’m dying to photograph, but Miss Mommy in the post below has already filled the spot (at least once baby girl comes along in a few weeks!). I’m offering some great sale prices on these sessions, so let me know when you’re ready to book!

2) Bridal session or Trash-the-dress session (I promise you do NOT have to get your dress dirty, but you do have to be willing to go outdoors with it on)
3) A class of 2010 senior who wants their senior photos to look different from all their friends’ senior photos
4) A woman who has just purchased a hot new outfit (dress preferred!) with some killer heels
5) A newborn (within first two weeks of birth) – this session is FILLED!

I spent some time this weekend with this beautiful family that I met a while back at church. Mom is due with baby number 3 in April, and she is at the perfect size for maternity shots. I’m hoping that she’ll let me do a newborn session then too before they move to Texas! By the way, I know some great photographers in the Lone Star State if you’re needing more portraits after you move there!

Samples &amp; Sunflowers

This week I received my latest canvas sample which will now be displayed prominently in my office! The beautiful bride in this shot is Jen who married Chris last May. This was one of my absolute favorite shots from 2008 and the pictures below do not do this gorgeous canvas justice. Please call or email if you’d like to stop by and see it sometime! I’ll be happy to show it off!

This second photo shows how good the craftsmanship is. The canvas also came with hanging hardware which is a very nice bonus. I think it would also look cool in a floating frame, so I’ll have to consider that soon.

My full-time job is at Precision Graphics in downtown Champaign. We are lucky to get fresh flowers every week from Rick Orr Florist

also in downtown Champaign. Today we got sunflowers, which is perfect because I’ve been wanting a picture of a sunflower to frame and hang in my bathroom! Two birds, one stone.

I received 10 comments from blog readers and passersby during the “Cans for Comments” campaign. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but I think that’s more comments than I’ve had during my entire blog tenure, so it’s a step in the right direction! I will be making the contribution sometime before the end of 2008.

Now, here are some shots of my Christmas cookie-making production this past Saturday. Aaron’s mom is in love with these cookies and has already requested them for her birthday in March. She mentioned in her voicemail that I can make them in shamrock shapes and lucky for her, I have a shamrock cookie cutter already!!

Jessica contacted me about doing some portraits of her and her husband Jeff for some Christmas gifts. They wanted to do the shoot indoors, so after consulting with Allyson about her favorite indoor locations, I decided that we’d go to the Illini Union and Krannert. We also tried to go to the new Business building on campus, but it was locked.
