Beautiful blue skies, bright blue eyes

Christopher and Jennifer were married on May 24. The reception was at a cool vineyard just outside of Champaign and mostly inside a big white tent which was great for my lighting purposes. We also got to grab a few shots at the Quad and the Arboretum.

This was one of my favorite shots of the day. The title of this post comes from the great headshots I got of the two of them and their gorgeous blue eyes. Congratulations, Jen & Chris!

Precision Graphics office shoot

Many people don’t realize that I still work a full time job in addition to my photography business. I am a project manager at Precision Graphics, and today they asked me to do an office photo shoot for some marketing/publicity presentations & slideshows. I thought overall we did a pretty good job, even though I had a little trouble with all the glass walls in our office and the computer screens not working out quite right.

Lunch with the Ladies

I just had lunch with our little C-U area female photographer’s guild at El Toro 2 (yum!): Stacey, Linda, Melissa, Allyson and me. I was just thinking about how funny it is though that we don’t have any pictures from our lunches (we have gotten together several times the last year). Hey ladies… if you’re reading this, we should do that next time! I think I had my Fuji point-and-shoot with me! :)

Instead, I’m going to post a pic of me working for all of you. Ha! This is actually a photo that the mother-of-the-bride took of me photographing the image in the post below!

Three's a crowd

Whew! What a weekend! I ended up photographing the Danville Area Community College graduation Friday night BY MYSELF for Memory Lane, then back to Champaign to help Scott finish up the Parkland graduation. Then I had to get home and get everything charged and ready for the wedding the next day.

I was very honored to be asked to photograph the wedding of Sarah Wackerlin and Tim Spiker. Sarah’s mom, Karyl, is a good friend and fellow wedding photographer. I think very highly of her and her work and so, needless to say, I was nervous about this wedding. I took about 850 shots, and she hired a second shooter to help me out during the portraits and ceremony. It worked out very well overall, and I’m pleased with the results. As Karyl said as I handed her the DVDs this morning: “If you’re happy with them, I’m happy with them.”

In this image, I climbed under the veil with the bride and groom. And, I do mean “climbed.” She had a cathedral-length veil that enjoyed getting caught in the wind and picking up twigs and leaves out on the golf course. I think this photo turned out beautifully though, so I don’t regret the hassle at all!

Now, back to charging batteries and clearing off memory cards I go… next wedding is Saturday!

I had forgotten about this one!

I photographed this in the hurried month before my house closing, so I forgot to ever look at the website and see my photos posted (I also took a headshot that would have been on the lefthand side in the month the article ran).

This shoot was so cool because this NYC company (MyIDaccess) found me online (I think through Google) and contacted me about doing this setup shot at a restaurant about a 1/2 hour from where I live (Tuscany Restaurant in Tuscola).

I thought I’d throw it up here as another example of my commercial photography. And, after talking to my contact at the Illinois Soybean Association, I realized I had forgotten about their postcard prints as well, so hopefully I can get one of those up here soon too. Cool stuff!
