On Saturday, October 27, the Fighting Illini took on Ball State at Memorial Stadium. The morning skies were very gloomy, but just before halftime the sun broke through, creating more options for us photographers!

Jessica & Devin’s fall-themed wedding was on a crisp October afternoon in Rantoul. Everything went smoothly except it was almost too dark to shoot on the Quad by the time we got there (around 6-6:30). The Round Barn Center is a great place to photograph reception, especially when they use those colored lights around the room’s perimeter. It’s got a high, white ceiling, so I was able to bounce light off the ceiling and use one of my strobes aimed at the middle of the room (looking back, I probably should have set up two strobes coming in from different angles).
Overall, I was very happy with the way the photos turned out, and here are a few of my favorites:

I’ve now shot 4 football games at the University of Illinois: vs. Missouri (in St. Louis), vs. Western Illinois, vs. Penn State, and vs. Wisconsin. The 2nd two were exciting games versus ranked opponents, and I got several photos of huge interceptions. There are three home games left, but this weekend, while the team is on the road in Iowa, I will be shooting a 450-guest wedding. I will write more next week after that!
A few of my favorite shots:
September 22 was the wedding day of J.C. and Beth, two of my co-workers at Precision Graphics. They’re currently off honeymooning in Cancun so they haven’t seen their photos yet, but I’ve looked at them at least 5 times myself! Overall, I was pretty happy with the results of my photography that day, although I was very unhappy that my Metz 58 flash blew out on me after the ceremony. I made do with a lesser TTL flash and one of my studio lights the rest of the afternoon, but I now have an SB600 on the way (along with another Pocket Wizard!!) so I’ll be all ready for my 10/13 wedding.
